Default PiedPiper QE2 8/20/2002

Hi,

We're booked on the QE2 Transatlantic from Southampton to NY. Anyone else going to be onboard?

Hey Guys.... I'm really giving this one a lot of consideration and have not yet made a choice about it. I've never been on the QE2 before and would love to check the old girl out. I'm confused about the dining thing and don't want to be the only one of the group in my category. Which level did you choose? Have you had experience with this ship before? What was it like?

Hey Guys!

We were on the QEII last may for a trans-Atlantic and loved the ambiance of the ship. She is not flashy or glitzy but she certainly has class, a bit tatty around the edges, but she has character. We have cruised many many times (we leave this saturday for the Caribbean on the Infinity). I would recommend Caronia class over Mauretania . I have sailed on her 10 years ago (twice) and was in Mauretania class which was very nice but Caronia is even better - found Princess Class too stuffy,,,Bon Voyage

I used to spend a lot of time on board and recommend Caronia as your dining choice. Mauretania is OKif you can tolerate a fixed dining time. Caronia dining room was completely rebuilt in the last refit, the wait staff, Maitre D's and ambience are just about right.

I did QE2 in 2000 with Pied Piper & one transatlantic years ago solo.

Caronia is best all round - Mauretania is real basic(the food is about the same in Maur & Caronia). The open seating is great in Caronia & grill rooms. But its not worth the cost as far as Grill rooms(in my opinion).

The ship is old but fine. One thing you shoulfd know - the Pied Piper group was fun but defines itself by class/ dining room - the Queens & Princesses don't mix with the lower classes etc. I met wonderful guys & had fun but on QE2 its all about what category you are in!

The transatlantic is great - do it!
