Default Millie 11/30 in Casa de Campo

Does anyone have any good ideas for shore excursions when the Millie docks in the Dominican Republic?

I've heard that the shore excursions are particularly lame and a total ripoff, and I'm planning on just staying on the boat.

Can anyone give me a reason to get off?

I've also heard there is nothing to do at this port. I'm planning to stay on the ship. It's really special when the everyone is in port...and you have the ship to yourself!

We are staying on board too ! Nothing on the Celebrity shore excursion list seemed appealing. Much rather have some time in the hot tub ! Maybe a walk around the pier for some exterior shots of the ship.

So I gather that my first inclination to just stay on the ship was the right idea after all.

You only have 3 choices is Casa de Campo. The ship docks at a pier that's not next to ANYTHING but empty fields. It IS right across the river from a very nice old smoke-belching foundry though!
The marina - big new condo village around a marina- shops and restaurants. Usually they have free shuttles from the ship.
Alto de Chavon - a recreation of a Mediterranean artist's village. Cobblestone streets, timber and stone buildings. Lots of craft shops and reataurants. Also should have a free shuttle.
The ampitheatre - big local folkloric show with LOTS of dancing.
I did the marina and craft village and was back on board in 2 hours. The price was right.

Hmmm. If there is a free shuttle to the artist village, we may do that. Anyone can confirm ?

Please tell the that there is one decent beach that is not to far from the port? Never been to this port but have heard so many great things about this Island.

Thanks,

Albert

We went to Alto de Chavon and found it okay. Stayed aboard ship that evening and night. Although we were in port, the casino was opened around 7pm. Glad that happened.
