I just returned from the Oosterdam and noticed quite a few "family" members onboard. Beware of some pretty bad smells on the starboard aft side of the ship. Was nasty. The ship itself is gorgeous. Enjoy your cruise.
It smelled like month old garbage. It was most detinct on the Promenade deck. I didn't notice it on the other decks. There were some strange smells thoughout the whole ship. I was on the upper promenade deck towards the front of the ship and did not notice any smells there. Beware of the casino. Little Green Men is a very addicting nickel machine . If you play in the casino, play blackjack. Great movies this trip. Make sure you go to the Queens Lounge to watch "Somethings Gotta Give". The aft pool is the better of the two pools. The indoor pool is mostly for the kids. There were 240 kids under the age of 17 on this cruise. I stayed in the bars and casino most of the time. I am sure there wont be many kids on your cruise. I just happened to pick the week that spring break was at it's height. The teens threw 3 shuffleboard cues off the ship and they also "lost" 3 quoits, leaving them with only 2. The Atrium was teenville the entire cruise. I have been on 6 cruises and rank this one #5 among all my cruises. After your first cruise, make your second cruise onboard the Veendam. It is the perfect ship. Anyway, bon voyage!
Thank you, again....we can only hope (as you suggest) that the stink had something to do with the springbreakers, teens on a trip, etc. etc. Sorry you won't be on the 5/22 sailing--we could meet for a liquid refreshment. We need advice on onshore excursions as well since we've not done this before. Judy & Vicki
