Sailed on the Horizon for a 10-nighter in March. It was our second time and we love the ship. Small, intimate, wonderful food and service; very friendly crew made us feel quite welcome. Great Martini Bar! There are no balcony cabins as of now but they are supposed to be added during an upcoming refurbishing. Would definitely sail her again.
We sailed on the Horizon in February 2003 and found the ship to be quite dated. It was our second cruise on Celebrity. The dining and service was quite good throughout the cruise. The interiors looked a little worn, tired and very much set in the 1980's look. The dining room is only one level. Everything is on a smaller scale....cozy intimate. The cabins were cramped and no balconys.
Now that all may sound like gee...they probably didn't have a good time...well, surprise, we had a real nice time on the Horizon. Staff was friendly and attentive. The ports of call were fun. We had a lot of laughs on that cruise. Celebrity has always been gay friendly to us at least. We have been on two more Celebrity ships since that cruise. Hope this helps you out.
Sailed on the Horizon twice recently ... a 7 night to Bermuda and an 11 night Caribbean.
I agree with one of the other writers that the ship is a little tired and worn, but we always have a good time on Celebrity. Great food, very friendly crew and staff. Ship lacks a lot of amenities found on the newer ships, e.g. no Jacuzzis on board.
I'm sure that you will have a great time on Horizon because the line is well run and the food is great. It is a bit small and dated to be sure. We found that the gym, exercise program, hot tub, outdoor activities were very much lacking. We use all that exercise stuff to help keep the weight off so we were dissapointed in that respect. JImbo
