Was wondering if anyone has enjoyed a Royal Caribbean cruise? We have a chance to go on the Mariner of the Seas on May 1, but not sure about being a gay couple on a str8 cruise. A virgin cruiser here so any thoughts or info would be appreciated. Anyone else out there going on that ship?
Our first cruise was on the Rhasody, and we had the same worries. Well, nothing to be worried at all! In fact, we had a straight Christian couple at our table who were on their honeymoon (in their 40s) and we closed the dining room down each night ... people even thought we were traveling together because we got along so well.
Have a wonderful trip!

Royal Caribbean is our favorite line. We just completed our sixth cruise with them in December. We have never experienced any problems traveling as a out gay couple on Royal Caribbean or any other cruiseline. On this last cruise we got along with everyone at our table, hanging out with them throughout the trip. Evening a newlywed Mormon couple.
My Partner and I (8 years together this July) have been on 3 cruises together, one on Carnival and two on RCCL. We love Cruises!! we have always had a good time, never felt like we did not belong, and always met nice people and have always managed to meet other "family" members as well. Our next Crusie is January 2006 on the Jewel of the Seas out of Ft. Lauderdale.
I think this is a great thread. This, too, was our concern on our first cruise. What we've experienced since has been incredible -- lots of friendly, open-minded people.
On a sailing on the Spirit, we were seated at a table with 5 women, three of whom were very attractive women in their early 30s. They *loved* having us at the table, and we had a blast. We played a trick on the ship photographer one night at dinner, we paired up as couples (male-female) and did these lovey-dovey shots. We rolled laughing.
On another sailing on Princess, we met the nicest lady in her late 50s on disembarking day ... it seems to me that people are very live and let live on cruises. That's what we've experienced.

As I found out, there were absolutly no reasons to be concerned. It was awesome and there was plenty of family onboard. We've booked again for Jan. '06 and we're thinking about May '06 too. Thanks for the advice.
