Default Crusing Hawaii? Tell me about it...

Thinking about seven days on the "Pride of Aloha". You get to visit four different islands for much less than it would cost to fly and hotel. Anybody been on this cruise? Jimbo

Haven't done it on the Pride, but have done Hawaii 2 times. One was on the Summit with CruiseMates. Flew to Honolulu, cruised around 5 days then sailed 5 days at sea to Vancouver! \

Hi Jimbo,

We've cruised to Hawaii 6 times, and as recently as last month, but never on the POA. Sorry we can't offer any info about the Pride.

May we offer a suggestion......If you have the time and $$$ you might want to consider one of the 14-15 day cruises to beautiful Hawaii...sooooo much more relaxing then squeezing in a 7 day cruise and 2 long flights to and from Boston. Just a thought.

J and K, I would much perfer to sail to the Islands rather than fly but we want to go at the end of May (birthday and annerversery) and the only option seems to be the "Prides" Jim

Royal Caribbean has 14 night cruises to Hawaii from California in May and in the fall, before the ships reposition.

We are doing the 14 night Radiance of the Seas one this fall. The Radiance does it also in May after she comes from the Caribbean and before she goes to Alaska for the Summer.

Default Done Pride of Aloha

Partner and I did Pride in October, 2005. If you are looking for the cruising experience, forget it. If you are looking for a floating hotel to get you from island to island, then do it.

Poor service, rude staff and the ship needs to be updated. Unfortunately I think this is part of the American work ethic. Do as little as you can. Since these ships are American flagged all employees must be legal to work in the US. Ok, I am off my soap box.

Given all of that, once we decided that this was no longer a cruise, as we have come to expect cruises, we had a great time visiting the islands.

The islands are beautiful and cruising around them is much cheaper than inter-island flights. We did not do any shore excursions but rented cars, except in Maui - we took a taxi. Old Lahaina is quite a distance from where the ship docks. Other ships tender or dock closer to the "downtown." I think the taxi was $100 round trip.

Feel free to email if you want more information. I have cruised NCL before, in fact just in July before the October Hawaii. But that was not part of their American flagged ships.

Take it for what it is and enjoy the islands. It is a great way to see them.
