Greetings all,
We're Brad and Anthony from Clearwater, FL. We're 31, and 21. Brad works in Purchasing for a Utility subcontractor, Anthony works in retail as a supervisor of some sorts. We've been together for a little over a year, and we have already gone on 3 cruises. Done Carnival for 5 days out of Tampa for my 21st b-day, done Norwegian for 3 nights in the Bahamas, and just 2 months ago, did a 7-night Mexican Riviera on the Mariner of the Seas for our first anniversary. The last cruise was by far the best I have experienced, we love Royal. Going to Alaksa on the Rhapsody come May 28th. and are considering 2 more cruises for 2011.
Hi everyone! My name is Jorge. I am 26 years old...still in school meanwhile working full-time as a Buyer for a University in California.
I am so looking forward to my first gay cruise. However, after reading this forum, it seems like its only couples that take these cruises. Or, not so much only couples, whereas not many single sailors.
It took great effort in my part to save the money for this cruise. But, after being exposed to this suspision, I can't help but wonder if this investment will even be well worth making.
Sorry, fellas...I don't mean to turn this cruise forum into a Dear Abbey letter but, if any of you have any advise, I would really appreciate it.
OH, FYI, i have been looking into the following two cruises:
Hello,
We are Art and Jeff from Seattle, WA. We have been together for 7years, and have been on 5 cruises and 1 up coming in Dec. I work for a major airline in the freight (fr8cub) dept. Art is retired. So, we travel as often as we can. Cruising is our travel of choice. But sometime we will fly to our next adventure. We each have cruised on other companies, but have only cruised on Princess together. Look forward to meeting other FOD, GLBT on future cruises.

We're Jim and Jim in Gainesville FL. We have cruised on Princess, Cunard, RC, and Celebrity... especially like days at sea so Transatlantic crossings, if you'll pardon the expression, *float our boat.* We favor Celebrity and RC.
We are getting married in DC in August - on what is technically our 19th anniversary - and have decided that a nice transatlantic crossing a month or two or three later with lots of romantic dinners for two and lazy days would be the perfect honeymoon treat. We are considering Azamara from Rome to Miami or back to back QM from NY to NY or maybe Seaborn from Nice to Ft. Lauderdale. We haven't been on the QM or on any Amazara or Seaborn. Any suggestions as to which would be most accommodating to gay Honeymooners? Right now we are leaning toward Azamara.
Congradulations on your upcoming wedding. Maybe we will run into you on a future cruise.
Jeff & Art

Hi I'm Mitch. I live in Brookline, MA and work in Behavioral Health Insurance. This will be the first cruise I have ever taken as a single, cabin share. I've been on 2 Atlantis cruises with my ex; 1 cruise with him and his mother (my first cruise 10 years ago) and 2 cruises with coworkers. My favorite was Baltic, St Petersberg (Russia).
I am older, but can pass for 40-45 (or that's what everyone tells me). I am not looking for a new partner, just a friendly, non smoker, non heavy party guy to cabin share. Haven't seen many recent posts about cabin sharing on this site (recommended to me by someone on Cruise Critic).
Gay cruises tend to be very friendly from my experience. But Atlantis is more pretty boy/ muscle guy. Of course I was with my partner then. I'm hoping RSVP is friendlier. But for that matter, straight cruises are friendly also. Everyone is on vacation and wants to have a good time. Hopefully I'll find a cabin mate (if one of my friends doesn't decide to join me) to enjoy the cruise with. Mitch

Hello!
I stumbled on this site and thought I would join the group. I took a couple of cruises as a kid and am about to take another one in Oct.
I guess I am a novice.
I will be going on a Panama Canal cruise departing Sept. 30 from San Diego and ending in FLL 15 days later.
Thanks for reading!!
Jorge, Part of my post was directed at you. Everyone is very friendly on gay cruises. Of course, you know how gay men are. If they are interested in you, they are very friendly. I am also a single on the RSVP 25th Anniversary cruise. You don't have to worry about my intentions, I would never pursue anyone as young as you are. But hopefully we'll meet and compare notes on RSVP. Atlantis was friendly, but everyone talked about their careers, and there were too many party boys for my taste. Mitch
Hello all:
Kind of new to the site, but we've been cruising for about eight years now. Didn't think we'd like it but now can't seem to get enough! We started out in '03 on the Zuiderdaam, then Celebrity's Constellation, next we had the pleasure of taking the QM2 on her maiden transatlantic. This was truly a crossing of a lifetime! Next, Princess' Splendor of the Seas, Crystal's "Symphony" to Hong Kong from L.A. Wonderful! then a Caribbean trip on HAL's Noordam. Our next trip will be on Oceaina's Regatta in February of 2011 back to the Caribbean out of Miami. Anyone going?
Great sharing with you!

I am glad I found this thread! My name is Jose, 47, Hispanic single gay professional guy living in Miami. I have never been on a cruise in my life and I think that comes down to my personal anxieties of becoming bored to death or being stuck in a boat in the middle of no where - yea...yea...I know those anxieties are irrational. Actually I was planning to travel "solo" sometime in 2011. Since I live in Miami, I have seen that new ship from Norwegian Cruise Line "EPIC" a few time leaving its port. What peaked my interest is that this ship has solo cabins with no "single supplement!" and has tons of activities on-board. I am no "spring chicken" or have the looks of a gay porn star so I have avoided the Atlantis gay cruises which I read and was told by many its geared for the circuit party boys in their 20's to 30's anyways.
Anyways, what I am looking for is to relax and escape reality for awhile and do something new and face something I actually feared So that's my condensed story!

Hey Jose, I am Kevin also in late 40's and I have traveled with NCL 10 times and always the best experience. My partner died in April w/ Cancer so I am going solo on the Epic in the solo cabin on January 8th 2011 to western caribbean. this whole Epic solo plan is long overdue and should be great for first timers and solos. So book it soon, mine cost 999.00 and you don't need the airfare so it's a real deal.....also there are only 128 of the solo cabins and they will go fast so throw down your deposit, toss away your trepidation and join the solos on January 8th....Kev

Hi Kevren05, thanks for your reply. Actually I was talking to a friend of mine who plans to go with me on one of those weekend cruises offered BY NCL, departing from Miami, just to see if cruising is my cup of tea or not. Hey what can I say - I am a landlubber .I heard lots and lots of excellent reviews about the studio cabins from almost all the cruise/travel sites. Also my condolesences over the loss of your partner.
Please let me know about your experiences onboard the EPIC and the studio cabins - I extremely interested to know!
We are Al and Rich from Spokane, Washington (go Zags) we have been together 20 years this Oct, 2010. This will be our first cruise ever... we will be going to the Mexican Riviera on board Carnival Splendor.
I am Al and i am 48 and Rich will be turning 47 on the last day of our cruise. We are taking the cruise because some friends of ours who have taken several cruises talked us into it. We are glad they did too. We are really looking forward to doing the whole cruise experience.
We'd learned since booking the cruise, that there will be a few other gay singles and couples on Splendor in Oct. 17 - 24th, 2010. We are looking for like minded people to socialize with, and be dinner mates. We are not big partying type guys.. yes, we'll have a drink or two, but that's about the extent of our partying. Unless it's an 80's party JK!
Anyway, come help us celebrate our 20th anniversary this Oct.
Congratulations on your upcoming 20th. And Welcome to the Cruising world.
Jeff and Art in Seattle, WA

Al and Rich,
Yes, I know about that buzz in your head. I have the same thing going on here. Our next cruise is set up for Dec. 5 from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdal via the Panama Canal. It is a 15 day cruise. This will be our 6th Cruise together. And we Love it. We have only cruised on Princess together as partners, but have cruised on other cruiseline before we met.
I hope you have a good time. I'm sure you already know from your friends, that they have a get together that they call the FOD(Friends of Dorthy) or GLBT meeting. Look for it in your daily patter. This is a good way to meet some fellow members of our "family". We have met a lot of nice people there.
Keep in touch, and let us know how your trip went. And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Jeff and Art

TravelC here , 37 GAM from SF. Looking forward to my NCL Sky trip on 11/5/10 all by myself.. anyone on this sailing and want to meet up?
TravelC,
welcome aboard!
you're just about ready for your trip.
One suggestion though. If there are FOD (friends of Dorothy) gatherings on your NCL, try to attend them.. we met some good people on our recent cruise.
My partner and I were traveling by ourselves.. and didn't know any other gay people traveling with us. so had it not been for the FOD gatherings.. we prob would not have ever met any of the others on the ship.
There were several other gay couples.. but not all of them attended the FOD gatherings.. each for their own reason's I'm sure.
Make the first move in saying hello to someone.. you'll be glad you did.
enjoy your NCL cruise.
AL and Rich

that's going to be an awesome trip.. one I would love to do with my partner.
being on the West coast makes it a bit more difficult.
enjoy the trip.
Yeah I'm looking forward to it. Not as long as I wanted for this year, but finances are what they are and I could only afford so much time off work. But there's always next year. Next year will be either the Disney Magic or Carnival Dream 7n Eastern Caribbean also around early November.. I really want to get back to St Thomas.

So I'm back from my 4n on the Imagination, and while I had a wonderful time on the ship, I was saddened that there seemed to be no FODs on board. At least none that came to the FOD meetings in the Pinnacle Lounge. It was a fun little trip, and exactly what I needed.
