Mike and I will be "tying the knot" in Vancouver at te end of our cruise on the Celebrity Summit southbound from Seward. We will be staying at the Fairmont Waterfront and have heard that the "Herb Garden" would be a lovely place to hold the ceremony. Anyone familiar with the Fairmont or have any other suggestions in the area? We would appreciate receiving any ideas / help in making some plans. Since it will be August 3rd, we still have a little time, but it seems to be fast approaching....
Thanks,
Bernie and MIke
What a great step to end a beautiful vacation - I hope you and Mike get to experience many many more trips together as a couple. Blessings on a wonderful ceremony and hugs from Southern New Mexico.
Dick.
We are not sure of the local protocols, but Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver is one of the most breathtaking places to visit and would make a fine locale for your wedding. You can Goggle it for images and perhaps determine if your wedding can be held there. As a public park, your wedding will therefore be public, but, hey, this is Canada...
Best wishes from two who have celebrated their 32nd anniversary
Thank you Dick, and Ron and Jon for your bests wishes.... My first partner and I were together for 25 years when he died of cancer and Mike was in a 27 year marriage. I am so lucky to have found him... had kind of "given up" and "poof" there he was! And since the British use "poof" as a term for gays, how appropriate was that!?!
My previous partner and I had two daughthers and Mike had two daughters and we are hoping that they will all be able to join us in Vancouver.... time will tell, but at least a few friends and relatives are planning to make the trip..... won't it be nice when we can do it localing instead of having to travel half way around the world to get recognition for our relationships.... we can hope that changes sooner, at least in Illinois we have a chance of getting "civil unions" passed in the near future!
Anybody else know much about the Vancouver marriage stuff??? We would appreciate whatever help we can get. we know about the license and have arranged for Karen Ell to perform the ceremony, but are still uncertain about the Herb Garden at the Fairmont Waterfront.... and Canadians from Vancouver out there who can help???
Thanks again
Berni and Mike
