There are 4 of us on this cruise looking to meet some nice people, have a get aquainted drink early on, and talk about the posibility of sharing an occasional meal together, etc. We will request FOD meetings after we board the ship. We've never been turned down....on many cruises. On the last Princess cruise there were 19 meetings. Princess gets a gold star!
All the ports will be new to Jerry and Kirk bkz they have consentrated their cruising in other parts of the world (just returned from a 20 day Hawaii/Midway cruise...wonderful!!!). The other 2 know the ports very well, and if they INSIST, we'll allow them to be our guides.....hummmm.
I have been looking at this cruise as it does have some great port stops. I've been considering HAL, too, as it is doing two similiar cruises from Montreal back to Florida as well. Wondering the pros and cons of Princess vs. Holland America and also going so late in Oct weather wise. Will appreciate others comments.
All of us being from a warm weather climate, should be prepared for cooler weather than we're use to. My research shows that Quebec will be in the low 50's in the month of October. As the ship travels further south the weather will get gradually warmer and we'll be able to shed some of our warm weather clothes, and by the time we get close to Ft. Lauderdale it will be around 86 degrees (I'm bringing only 1 pair of shorts with me, though).
We looked at the Maasdam and the Grand too as possibilities. We chose the Grand b/c it was 2 days longer and the prices were fair enough. The Grand is 6 years newer and may have a few more ammenities than the Maasdam. As far as we are all concerned, the cruise lines about equal. HAL is about a half notch higher, so you don't notice to much difference.
Hope this helps you in your decision making. Let us know if your joining us.....you'll have 4 new friends, and a couple from San Diego that we've been chatting with on another gay cruise chat line.
In answer to your letter.............All of our single friends that might be willing to share a cabin with you will be on other crusies in October, so we can't help you out there.
Yes, getting to Quebec from Tampa can be a bit of a chore. FYI....Our friends from Boca got a $99 Prom fare, but it took some digging for the TA and Princess rep to find it. Check it out! Let us know what developes.
It's just a little over a month that the Grand Princess sails away from
Quebec City on a 16 day journey to Ft. Lauderdale. The port stops are Corner Brook, Sydney, Halifax, St. John, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport, New York, Norfolk, Baltimore, and Charleston. Sounds interesting, huh?
Who wants to go?.....prices have come down!
