Default Mariner of the Seas - 10/7/07

Partner and I are traveling on this cruise after a conference in Orlando. Anyone else?

Also notice Shoretrips had a tour in Jamaica to HEDONISM III. Anyone been there? Gay friendly?

Default I wouldn't if I were you

Just Google JAMAICA GAY LAWS and all of your questions will be answered. Not a pretty picuture! None of my Pink bucks will ever be spent there. I have also heard very discouraging things about Hedonism Resorts. Here is an excerpt form Frommer's Guide:

Jamaica is the most homophobic island in the Caribbean, with harsh anti-gay laws, even though there's a large local gay population.

Many all-inclusive resorts maintain strict no-gay policies. However, Hedonism II in Negril does allow gay travelers. So does the Grand Hotel Lido in Negril. Still, avoid open displays of affection -- such as handholding on the streets -- in Jamaica: You could be assaulted for trying it.

Unquote.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the update.

We had already decided not to get off the ship in Jamaica due to their attitude and actions toward homosexuals. I saw the tour and was hoping for some all over sun time in an otherwise clothing only itinerary. Even if the resort was friendly, I don't think that would have persuaded us to leave the ship.
