About 15 years afo I was on a cruise alone and during a pre-departure lunch I was seated at a Large Table with several other guys.when the table was full there were 12 men. We all were sort of looking at each other wondering why they put us all together until someone broke the ice and we all had a good laugh. By the end of the meal we were fast friends and managed toi get all of our regular dining seat arrangements changed so we all were assigned that table.
One of the guys was reading the ships newsletter and asked what "Friends of Bill W" meetings were. It is code for AA meetings, One of the guys at the table joked that were should have a "Friends of Dorothy" meeting and see if there were others on the ship. The guy who suggested it went to the purser andf the next days newsletter included a "Friends of Dorothy" meeting The next afternoon in one of the bars. More than 50 people attended and for the rest of the cruise there eas a gay bar and a gay pool on the ship. I still keep in toush with some of the guys. Since then I have seen "Friends of Dorothy" meetings on several ships. So, if you want to find fellow travelers, just ask the purser to put it in the newsletter.
