I am in the very inital stages of researching a career in Pharmacology. I have about one year of GE requirements completed and understand what is required for admission to most Pharm. D. schools. I live in San Diego and realize that there are no Pharmacology schools in the area. I plan on attending a school in the southwesten US. Can you please give me any insight on what the Admissions Departments of Pharmacology Colleges look for in addition to GPA and academics? I hope to bypass the BS and go directly to Pharmacology school. I have been emailing various colleges concerning this issue with no luck on a response. ANY information you might have will be greatly appreciated.
PS Do you know of any websites or message boards that focus on Pharmacology Students and College?
Pharmacology is actually something different than the education by a PharmD. Pharmacology must be studied by pharmacy students, however, most pharmacologists are MD's. So, either you are asking about admission to pharmacy schools (basically, 6 year undergraduate programs) or you are seriously into pharmacology, in which case you should pursue an undergraduate degree.
