Allergic to dramamine

I'm allergic to dramamine. Break out in hives when I take it. Is Bonine a different drug altogether? If so, I'm guessing I wouldn't necessarily be allergic to Bonine and it would be a safe try. (I'd try it of course a couple weeks before cruising to be sure).

I can get seasick if tossed around pretty good, at least on smaller boats. I didn't get sick on my first cruise on the Grand Princess, although one night in 8' swells I did feel a little uneasy. But she's a significantly larger ship than the Celebration and I'd like to have something along just in case.

Ginger works surprisingly well...both at preventing the onset of seasickness and getting rid of the quesiness should it already be showing signs. YOu can get ginger capsules at Walmart or most drug stores.

According to my drug book, both are antihistamines and work in the same way. This does not mean that you can't take bonine - in fact the side effects listed for bonine are a lot less than those listed for dramamine.

I would definitely ask a pharmacist this question.
