Well, just got back from Hawaii and the Bonine worked like a charm! I was so nervous after getting sick going to Alaska. And this time with 4 days at sea before hitting land I wasn't sure if I would be OK. I took a Bonine the night before, 1 before boarding and then 1 each night before going to bed. Had no problems whatsoever. Even coming back with rough seas, I just took an extra Bonine in the morning and didn't even get queasy. It was nice to be able to walk around the ship and enjoy the food with no nausea. Even some of the crew got sick coming back! 3 cheers for Bonine!

That's good to know. I've never cruised before but I get such motion sickness that I can't be a passenger in the car - and if I drive too fast on a winding road I get queasy. I'm so nervious about our cruise this summer. I've already got our Bonine, ginger tabs, and an emergency patch if nothing works.
Althought we're not cruising until this Summer, I wanted to take Bonine now to see if it worked and what kind of side effects I would get (if any).
I took a pill yesterday at 2pm. It made me so tired I could barely drive home from work at 6:30. I walked in the door, fell on my bed will all my clothes on and passed out. I suffer from insomnia so this is quite the knock-out pill for my system.
I don't know if they make a non-"drowsy" form of Bonine but I'll look. There is no way I could take this on a cruise. I will have wasted the money we paid.
I tried the non-drowsy 24 hour Bonine because I had heard that it wouldn't make you sleepy. I took it at night and slept great, BUT was really tired the entire next day.
Then, I tried half a pill. Still couldn't believe how tired I was the next day. I guess everyone's system is different. I am going for the sea bands and ginger pills!
Make sure the Bonine is the non-drowsy formula. It doesn't make me sleepy, but everyone is different.
One per day (the 24 hour variety) worked for me and my son.

I too have taken it for years and recommened it for my family no one had any drowsy affects eithier. But the dramine knocked me out on our first cruise. So each person will be differnt on any given day.
Keep trying things until you find one that works for you.Good luck.
Lots of confusion here. Bonine is meclizine. I know of no non-drowsy form. In fact the non-drowsy form of Dramamine is meclizine i.e. bonine. Bonine is very effective for most people, and it makes most folks only moderately sleepy. It wears off quickly and does not have the very negative post removal side effects of the patch.
