We are going on our first cruise in just a couple of weeks (WOO-HOO!!!) I know that I am prone to motion sickness, and hate the feeling. I have read everything that everyone has written about Bonine and the wristbands. I am going to pick up some of those wristbands, and think I may try the pre-cruise Bonine experiment to see how it affects me like a few other people said they did, because I don't want to sleep through my cruise either. I was at the pharmacy today scoping the motion sickness scene, and saw some drops that you place behind your ear, I think the name of it was "Motion-Eaze". Has anyone heard of this, and do they work???? Just curious.
Used this while circling whales in a small boat in a rough sea ... it worked for me and the person with me. Smells nice. I am not usually sea sick but I have to say that this day was getting to me. Like they say, just don't mix.
Of course you can use Bonine AND the braclets. Don't know about the bracelets, but the bonine does actually work. The ear thing sounds like a placebo, but whatever.

I know the person who posted this has already sailed. This is for anyone else who has the same question.
This is coming from someone who can get motion sickness from taking a shower!
I used the generic, non-drowsy Bonnine. That worked "ok". Once in my cabin, if the ship had ANY movement AT ALL, I would use the Motion Eaze. It would help. I would NOT use it as the only remedy. I think it works mainly as aroma-therapy. The strong peppermint smell seemed to help eaze the quiziness.
Bottom line for me. I use it as a back up. It's all natural herbs and you use it on the back of your ear. You do not take it internally, so you can use it with other meds.

I was just at the store. I only found LESS drowsy bonine. There was no NON drowsy formula. Is there such a thing? I would be great to have a total non drowsy pill.

We walk up to the Wal-mart Pharmacy window and ask for their Generic Brand Bonine. You have to ask the Pharmacist and they only have it behind the counter. You get 100 tablets for around $10.00!!!!! (Better then paying $6-8 for 10 - 20 tablets!) There is the Wal-mart brand out on the shelf, but it still cost more then what is behind the counter.
Bonine is one of the Brand Names for the drug Meclizine Hydrochloride. With Meclizine, you don't get AS drowsy as the "other" stuff.

Medications such as Bonine (Meclizine) Dramamine and the prescription, Scopolomine patch are preventatives and should be taken before you are seasick. They actually do little once you become sick.
You can mix the sea-bands and other oral medications. The sea-bands are an acupressure type of preventative and while they have never passed a blind medical study, many people swear by them.
Take care,
Mike
