Default Sharing Transderm Scop Prescription

Anyone ever use someone else's prescription of Transderm Scop? I got a prescription from my doctor just in case for me and my future wife. Is this prescription based on weight? Has anyone ever used someone elses prescription of this medication? If so, how was your experience?

Thanks!

It is never a good idea to use someone else's RX. If your finance wants to use the patch, I would highly recommend that she see her own doctor for a RX.

Its never a good idea to share any kind of prescription medication. If she is prone to severe motion sickness on land while traveling in the car, or on an airplane then she should go to her doctor and get her own prescription for the patch. The patch is only for people who get severe motion sickness it is not for the queezies.

Point well taken. We basically got it to make sure we covered all the bases. I didn't want our honeymoon to be 7 days of being sick. I imagine Jenn will find the ship moves much less than she expected.

"The Patch" is OTC here in Canada - so I imagine it would not be based on weight.

Default make sure you try the patch first!!!

I decided to try it a week before I sailed... good thing I did! Within an hour I was nauseous but I held in there for 3 hours, thinking I just had to get used to it. It was awful. I removed it and it took until the end of the next day to get over feeling sick and dizzy. I'll stick with meclizine - works fine and doesn't make me sleepy

My sister uses them, but they give her blurred vision and a very dry mouth.

Her sister-in-law was using one, but she didn't follow the instructions [I guess you use the same one for a number of days?] and took it off too soon and applied a fresh one. She ended up having temporary blindness!
And had to go to the ER. [They were at Disney World and she took if b/c of the rides.]

It's powerful stuff.

I think it's smart to try it before sailing, as cheezz did.

as the other folks have said, it's never good to share any prescription med. however, a med like transderm scop is one that your md may call in without an office visit. so, if your wife simply calls her doc, they can probably call it in for her. I have used these but the side effects can be bothersome; the blurry vision comes because it dilates your pupils and it drys your mouth something terrible! So, I usually use it for flights (when i get sever motion sickness) , then take it off and use meclizine (when the scop has worn off) for the remainder of the cruise
