Do you still need to take all the individual pill bottles?? - we are traveling to South America next Jan '09 starting in Fla but flying home from Valpariso.
My husband takes about 15 meds daily and last time, no one even looked
at the bag of bottles. Would be much simpler to just use the weekly pill boxes - I will have written scripts along to prove he takes these meds.
But on the other hand - I don't want to get in trouble in a foreign country
with unmarked pills.

I will give you the "official" answer. Yes you should take medications, in the original bottles, the bottles with you.

Now I will tell you what I do and have done. I take the pills in the weekly dispensers and take the scripts. I have never had a problem, not even with Schedule 2 medications.

Take care,
Mike

To add my two-cents for consideration: with fifteen medication to schlepp around, do you really want to take the chance some overzealous customs agent (and they do seem to be on the extra testy side these days) decides to confiscate your stash and then you have to buy more medications? Your insurance, if you have insurance, may not cover replacements if you weren't close enough to refill time. Seems like the bottles would be a lot easier to carry around than to deal with THAT scenario. Just a thought...

Happy travels.

Yes, thanks for your thoughts - I will be packing up the original bottles along with the written scripts (just in case). On the plus size - at the end
of our trip - just get rid of the empties for room for more "stuff". 8)

Default Prescription Bottles

The post on your question are right on target. We always take our prescription bottles just in case some custom agent questions us.
