Default Formal Dress Nights - Ryndam

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how formal "formal" nights are? We're sailing Dec 16th on the Ryndam (Half Moon, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Key West). Would a tuxedo be out of place? I like the idea of renting one so I don't have to pack a full suit. Thanks in advance!

Mike: There will be at least fifty percent of the men wearing tuxedos..and given this is a holiday cruise, there will probably be more. Definitely plan on "dressing formal" if that is what pleases you. Been on Ryndam a number of times and my husband always wears his tux or his white dinner jacket.

Mike -

We were on the Ryndam last March and wore a tuxedo both formal nights. On the second formal night, they did something that I thought made it extra special. They decorated the dining room with special linens, chair covers, and decoration. It made it very festive and formal. A great touch in my opinion.

Tom and sail7seas -

Thanks so much for your responses. I went ahead and reserved a tuxedo for the cruise. At age 44, I figure I should be able to wear it with some grace! Regards,

Hi there! My fiance and I will be traveling on this cruise also, we'll be getting married onboard at port...he doesn't like dressing up, but he's going to bring (other than the wedding tux) one suit and a sport coat. I've heard that we shouldn't be too worried about wearing the same formal outfit more than once...it's done all the time :-)

Hope this helps!

P.S. Just so you know, they have a dry cleaning service on the ship.
