In view of world conditions with people wanting to stay closer to home, may I suggest a summer cruise along the U.S. Pacific coast? Some ships do this when re-positioning to/from Alaska, but why not do it all summer long? There are "world class" ports to visit in San Diego, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Catalina Island, Santa Barbara, Monterrey, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. A stop could be made in Mexico and Vancouver, too, if needed for legal reasons. How about it, Holland America?
As a Vancouver resident, I too would like to see both more options on the west coast, perhaps more mainland - Hawaii options, and a definitely longer season. But, to judge from earlier exchanges on this subject, it appears that most of the world thinks that the northwest coast is just too rough and rainy for them except in the summer months. Pity.
