Default Ryndam - South America

Looking at the Ryndam from Rio to Valpariso in March.

Does anyone know if HAL offers a tour of the Valpariso/Santiago area on the day of debarkation? The flight I'm looking at doesn't leave until 8:00 pm and of course, I would like something to do during the day.

Their website lists tours, but doesn't detail if they are for day of debarkation also, or just for a port of call.

We are doing the reverse cruise next week and since they offer debarkation day shore excursions in Rio, I'm betting they do in Valpo as well. You just have to watch the time of your return flight.

We are doing this cruise on Dec 1. Our tour book lists a couple tours. But, it says that they are for people whose plane departs after 9 PM. They are two winery tours with lunch and are $189 if you do not have HAL's transfer and $149 if you have the transfer. They each are approx. 9 hours. I think the trip from Valparaiso takes a good bit of time. If you don't do a tour they take you to a conference room in a hotel in Santiago, give you snacks and I understand you can walk around on your own. I have been told there is a lot of shopping in this area. We have not opted for a tour and will just "wait and see".

If I can be of any help, let me know.

Just returned from the Valparaiso to Rio route on this ship. We did not use any HAL tours as we found better, smaller and more personal trips at lower prices through this company:

South Star Tours
www.southstartours.com

We also used this company in Puerto Montt: Eureka Tours
eureka-turismo@entelchile.net

We found the HAL tours overpriced, crowded and not very flexible. The drive from Santiago to Valparaiso is about 90 minutes normally, but there is much highway construction on the main road and it took us nearly 3 hours without any tours.
