Patty,

All the water on the ship is converted from sea water through a desalination process. The water comes out pure and very drinkable. You will have no problem drinking it. It tastes fine.

Just returned from a trip on board the Zaandam. At every port (except Half Moon Cay) the ship loaded water from shore.

I inquired about this since I was told on previous HAL cruises that all water is made on board. An officer informed me that it is cheaper to buy the water at the ports than it is to make it.

The water tasted fine but you could detect a faint smell of chlorine.

The process of taking sea water and converting it to pure water is a very long and difficult process. I cannot believe that they do that. Normally, the get their water from the ports of call.

My findings is the water from the sink in the bathroon and in the pitcher in the room does not taste that good. The dinning room is very good. My guess is they put the dinning room through more filtering.
