I have only cruised HAL once on the Veendam which I loved, little things like no tipping
envelopes, free expresso, popcorn, flower arrangement, plants in rooms, french toast
cooked on grill instead of warming pan, hamburgers at grill tha weren't hockey pucks.
I am wondering about the Zaandam whats it like as nice. I had a balcony which was a decent size nice layout of ship.
I have cruised the Zaandam and the Ryndam which is a sister to the Veendam...the Zaandam is a wonderful ship, not that the Ryndam is not, but the Zaandam is newer and as such has more of the amenities that we Holland America fans love. You will not be disappointed if you cruise on the Zaandam.
Zaandam seems to me more colorful than Veendam. Zaandam has the specialty restaurant and what I like about the Rotterdam class ships is that they've added dance floors to the Explorer's lounge and the piano bar, though, admittedly, the piano bar is more open and less intimate than those of the Statendam class. Nice ships, but not everyone likes their decor .
