Default Who has been to Alaska

I know it is a little early, but someone must have been this year.
Anyone who has sailed on the Amsterdam up to Alaska this year, it would be nice if you could post a review on your trip, so the rest of us will know what we are getting into.

Barry

Hi Carol
We are heading out on September 20 , will be on the last cruise this year, have more or less picked out what we are doing in the ports and are trying to fit in the Helicopter ride in Juneau with the free Glacier and Salmon bake we get with Virtuoso. We will have 16 in our group by the time we sail so most of what I was looking for was on board info.
We have the schedule for dinner, Sat. is casual, Sun. is Formal, Mon. is Casual, when we are in Juneau, Tue. is Informal, Glacier Bay, Wed. is Casual, Sitka, also Dutch Night, Thu. Formal, Ketchikan, Fri. Casual, Victoria.
What I am trying to find out is when the Cocktail Parties are, and when the buffet suite lunch is, so I can finish up our onboard get together's that are own group is having, and yes I called HAL and for once they couldn't help, said it was to far away and things could change. I did find out that they are changing the Captain on the last cruise in July, which I think is yours, I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get Captain Coburn or Captain Jack.
How are you doing with your cruise?

Barry

I had a friend die in helicopter ride in Hawaii several years ago, investigate the company thoroughly, many problems are kept hidden since they depend on tourists. It's amazing how many crashes have actually taken place, but no one knows outside of the immediate area! I personally avoid them.

I know salmon isn't running fully upstream until mid-july near wrangell since Anan isn't open till then. Have no idea about other fish.

I tend to be a history, culture and wildlife kinda girl. My outdoor activities are hiking, biking and kayaking.

Living where I do, I see sea otters and seals quite regulary and whales during migration. I'm hoping to see bears and bald eagles

We're close to booking the Zaandam for late July. How did you enjoy your cruise? Highlights? Lowlights? Many thanks for your reponse.

We'll be on the Amsterdam on 6-21. I'll be glad to make some notes and post a lengthy review at that time. We did the Alaska cruise on the Westerdam about four years ago and had a great time. I hope that helps.

Thank you very much Chuck, by chance are you in a suite or cruising with someone in one, if you are then you can give me answers on the lunch and cocktail parties. Thank you again.

California native, please write a review of your RT Prinsendam cruise on your return.

I haven't read any recent reports of her nor seen any pictures of her in her "new" incarnation as the Prinsendam.

Here's a web site for you -

http://www.alaska.net/~alpineair/

If at all possible, I would suggest adding a HAL land tour to your cruise.
