Default Alcoholic beverages

I understand that Hollard America is a little more tolerant in regards to booze being brought on board, either carry on or checked luggage. Has anyone out there had there luggage searched and the booze confiscated. Is it better to use water bottles etc to conceal it????

You can bring alcohol onboard in your carryon or you can purchase alcohol in the Holland American ship's liquor store on the ship. You can take it back to your room for your use there. Do not mix drinks in your room and take them in public places though. They are lenient for you to consume your beverages in the privacy of your own room. As long as people don't abuse this policy it is not likely to change.

I just came back from a 10 day mediterranean cruise on Holland Noordam. Brought beer on board from every port we stopped at and was never questioned. I did consume in my room, and didn't take it to the Lido etc. Even if I would have, I doubt if they would have confronted me. Holland is way above that. Great service. That's why I keep going back.

You don't have to conceal the booze in your packed luggage. If you are in doubt call the HAL customer service number. They will tell you that it is ok.

We pack wine in bubble wrap and
take it in our suitcase from home.
We also buy it in port and bring
it on board. Never a problem.
Hals prices for wine are way too
high.

If you do purchase liquor on board, do they charge you more to take it back to your cabin?
Thanks

There is a 20% service charge on all liquor purchased in the ships store to take to your cabin. The prices are very low...as low as STT so the markup is not much..jean
