Do the hotels have shuttles to the port? In AAA book, it says SpringHill Suites has a free shuttle to Port Everglades but we haven't called yet. Also, I wondered if hotels will let you park there while on the cruise.
We just stayed at the Springhill Suites last week. Yes, they do have a shuttle, but they only have 2 vans and they were taking passengers to 10 different ships, 3 of them being HAL's, Oosterdam, Maasdam and Volendam which we were on. They said they would take all the HAL passengers together, but we figured it was faster to take a cab, which it was. There were 4 of us, so we took 2 cabs and it wasn't that expensive. I don't know about them letting you leave your car there, but you could check.
The offer a free Continental breakfast, but there were so many people at the hotel that it was almost impossible to get a table to sit at and eat our breakfast. There are no stores close-by so if you have forgotten to bring anything, like toiletries, etc., forget it.
They did take us over to TGIFridays for dinner, but said if they were too busy they couldn't pick us up. Luckily, they were able to come and get us. The Hotel is sort of in an out-of-the way area.
Don't think we will stay there again.
Check out Embassy Suites on 17th Street Causway. There are stores and restaurants right across the street and they have a shuttle to the port. Don't know about parking, but I believe you can leave your car there, although they may charge you. They also have a free hot cooked buffet breakfast. We stayed there last year. Should have gone back there instead of to the Marriott.
I can also give another thumbs up for Embassy Suites. Booked it on Hotwire for either $62 or $65 a night for a pre-cruise stay in December. We had a terrific view of the port on the 12th floor, wonderful breakfasts, free shuttles, and easy walking distance to restaurants/groceries/Eckerds/sightseeing. We had flown into FLL.
