Will be traveling on Dec. 11th and make stops in Tortolla, St. Thomas and private island in Bahamas. Really love the water activities and especially snorkeling. Anyone have any good suggestions other than those sold by Holland America?
I will be traveling on the Zaandam in March and I had the same question. I have checked many messages boards and have found many recommondations for the Winifred. She is a sailboat out of St. Thomas. I contacted the owner via email and she replied back the next day. The website is www.sailwinifred.com. Most people said this was the highlight of their trip.
On Tortola most recommendations I found were for a trip to baths. Many people take a ferry on their own. A website with helpful information is www.bvivacations.com/Ferry. Since the ship is in port until 11 pm, I have been trying to find something to do after the baths. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was in Tortola 18 years ago and ate at a restaurant on the top of mountain that was very elegant. Since we are on a cruise ship, I am not interested in doing this again. I would love a moonlight champagne cruise, but I haven't found one.
I hope this helps you and please let me know what shore excursions you take and if you would recommend them.
We were in Tortola a few years ago on a cruise and just took a cab over to the beach for the afternoon. I have no idea what the name of the beach was but we were the only folks on this very long horseshoe shaped beach that was beautiful- a few miles long. We made arrangements with the cab driver to pick us up at a designated time and found a little hotel on the beach with a pool that served lunch. It was a great day. This time I think we will go to the Baths and take the Ferry (not the excursion through the ship).
We will be on your cruise on the 11th too. However, I don't think we will be in Tortola until 11 PM. Have not gotten tickets yet but don't think that was the time I noted.
Do you know what time is listed on your tickets for us to leave Tortola?
