We will be cruising on December 12 of the Westerdam. I am bringing my Mom along and I forgot to look into the fact that she is a smoker. What areas on board allow smoking? I know it is not PC to smoke, but she is from the generation where everyone smokes and I haven't been able to get her to quit yet. I want to be sure she enjoys her vacation as this is her first cruise and she was recently widowed. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
I think the Westerdam is like all other HAL ships - no smoking in the dining rooms or show lounges. Smoking is allowed in most bars (at least at the bar and in designated places), by pools and outside, and in your cabin. People seem to be very careful and thoughtful when they do smoke and find ashtrays before they sit somewhere and light up. I've been on 8 HAL ships, but not the new Westerdam, but assume the rules are the same.
Hope you and your mom have a wonderful time! Bon Voyage!
Caroline - not to worry - I am a smoker and I never have a problem finding someplace to smoke. Never smoke in my cabin, because there is no air circulation and don't want to stink up the room for the next guest.
