best cruise ship food

If we can't post the names of our favorite cruise ship chefs-let's at least hear about what ship it was and when it sailed. That way we can do our own research.

I only want to know because the last ship I was on (not necessarily this message board )- the food was nothing to get excited about!

Though, I have to be honest, in most cases I don't note the name, myself.

The best H.A.L. food we have experienced was on the Veendam. The worst H.A.L. food we have experienced was on the Amsterdam. The Veendam was excellent most of the time and the Amsterdam was horrible most of the time.

Go Figure???

But we still like H.A.L. a lot for many reasons.

I have read a lot of complaints about the Amsterdam(the ship) and food(taste-bland) on her.
I never sailed HAL because the number of seniors that it attracts and concerns about the food.
I enjoy Celebrity but sometimes they may not be sailing to the destination I want. Should I consider doing HAL and if so what ship. I do not need a brand new ship, but would perfer a weel run vessel of medium size.

David, H.A.L. is equal in most ways to Celebrity and Princess, I.M.H.O.

Also the age thing isn't as true as the urban legend of same. Usually H.A.L. has a similar crowd to Celebrity, but I'm a teacher and travel during peak dates when there is likely to be more young people.

I have enjoyed every H.A.L. ship except the Amsterdam. We even had a suite on board and it wasn't a great experience in most ways.

I like the older H.A.L. ships because of the generous teak promenade decks and the wood deck furniture. I really like the Veendam a lot except one time I had a terrible cabin that needed an exhorcist. Every mechanical system in the cabin failed.
