Alaska Cruisetour Veendam

Hello,
We are from Europe and we will do cruisetour 18 from HAL the 1 of August this year
Can anyone give us some more information about our ship (Veendam) and about the things we certainly have to visit on our land tour (departure Fairbanks to Seward)

I wish I was going with you! I did the trip 3 years ago on the Veendam & loved it. The best moments were standing on the forward observation deck or strolling around the Promenade & just enjoying the incredible scenery.

If you are in Ketchikan, take a short cab ride to the Saxman Native Village & also do Creek St. (don't miss Dolly's House).

In Sitka, walk the length of Lincoln St., winding up at the park.

I agree with the post above. The Veevdam is a beautiful ship. Since you are from Europe I would suggest that you get electric converters. HAL has changed the electrical system to AC. I think you have different plugs and current.

We just returned from 2 weeks of land and cruise on the Volendam to Alaska.
The Holland line is the only one allowed to cruise the inside passage up to the great north galcier, Margerie Glacier and the Tarr Inlet. You should take a tape recorder and record the naturlists on board as they talk about the things are seeing while cruisng.
this was the highlight of our whole trip. It was spectaular !!!
words can not describe the beauty of Alaska.

and SeeTrekker thank you for your tip of the electrical system, we in Europe indeed have a different system.
By the way, did you also part at Fairbanks and visited Denali Park
we have already made two helicopter flight reservations one in Denali and a second in Juneau (with dog sledge adventure), we would also like to do some whitewater rafting but I'am still searching for the best place.
I also have a little question about the official (formal)evenings on the ship.
do you know which day they are because I would like to make two reservations for the pinnacle grill and that should be on another day then the formal nights.

Hello Europe,

We were on the inside passage to Alaska. Ketchikan, Skagway and Juneau.
Next time we plan to go to Denli,etc. and maybe the train to the interior.
The formal nights are usually on the second night while at sea, and on the 5th night cruise. If it is 10 day the formal days are different. You could ask someone who has been on longer cruises.
