Default laundry

Two years ago on a 21 day trip through the Panama Canal aboard the Zamdam they provided us with a laundry service which included all you could place in a provided bag for $12.00. This service included washing, drying and ironing and was returned to your cabin ready to hang in the closet. We are taking a back to back cruise to Europe in August for 26 days aboard the Rotterdam and was wondering if they had this service?

*AJ* - I know you mean the ZaNdam ! :-) we went through the Canal on her too and remember the laundry service and OH, how I envy you 26 days on Rotterdam V1.

Can't answer your laundry question. We also took advantage of it but 2 years makes a difference - law of averages says it may well be discontinued - why not phone HAL Customer Relations if your TA does not have the answer.

Well, I guess you could consider it to be free :-) but not all of us can afford the price difference.

Actually, we usually select a verhandah cabin but going through the canal it's advantageous to be able to view things from either port or starboard.

hombre* - Whoops! I was so anxious to get the "N" in there I missed an "a"!

It bugs me no end when people refer to the 'Zudi' the 'Zdam' the 'Westi' etc. and the Rotterdam V as the Rembrenterdam or however it's spelled.

We have been on the Rotterdam VI twice. I believe there are washers and dryers available on the ship for passenger usage.

I think the Westerdam and the rest of the Vista ships do no provide washer/dryer accommodations.

We are repeating on the Prinsendam and I know for a fact that washer/dryers are available on this ship.

There were laundry rooms and laundry service on the Maasdam on my Eastern Canada/New England cruise in early June. We had a balcony stateroom and prices on the laundry service were basically the same from your previous cruise.

Best Regards,
Julia

I sailed Maasdam (a sister ship to Zaandam) in February of this year-- they have self-serve laundromats on board - and also the "all you can stuff in the bag" service. I think it was a bit more than $12 -- but still a bargain. I think that service is one of HAL's trademarks - they are likely to keep it.

We sailed Westerdam this May-June. It does NOT have self service laundry, but did have the bag service. It was definitely more than $12 and I don't think it included pressing. I paid over $100 for unlimited laundry and pressing .

Default sinks in laundry room?

OK, any of you who have been on any Holland America ships, I need some help.

I need to use a sink for some items and need hot water as well. Can anyone remember if the passenger laundry rooms have sinks in them?

I just returned from Alaska on the Westerdam. They had a weekly deal on the laundry. Unlimited laundry for $45 per week. Traveled with children so it was great. I thought it was a good deal.

Yes the Rotterdam has laundry service. You can use the bags or at the very beginning of your cruise they offer a special and you have I think 2 days to accept it. We took it last year on the Venice to Rome. We also used the bag on the Maasdam for the May 27th sailing. Personally I prefer they do the laundry while I play
