Have to pick between #8036 balcony towards front ( even tho I am told it is close to
midship...OR $7131 which is a rear cabin at the way back...BOTH are the same price.
I am concerned about hurricanes, accessibility to everything etc?
What are the verandah sizes on these? ALso what is the size of each cabin.
Some of the answers will depend on what cruise line and the ship you selected.
We just returned from a cruise on the HAL Westerdam. Regarding the two rooms you mentioned, if it were the Westerdam - 8036 would be more mid-ship than 7131. Don't be confused by the deck diagrams. There is much more ship towards the bow after the assigned rooms end than is usually shown in the diagrams. Cabin 7131 on the Westerdam would be at the very back of the ship, facing the stern.
I gather you are talking about a Vista ship. If so I would also pick 8036.
When are you sailing that you are concerned about hurricanes?
If you tell us which ship and when you are sailing, then maybe we could help you.
Also we could tell you the size of the cabin/verandah, although if you check out HAL's web site, you will find this information.
IF this is the Zuiderdam, then according to HA web page, stateroom # 8036 is on Navigation deck and directly below the Lido Pool on Lido deck which mean when they start dragging out the deck chairs at 6am you will hear this noise above you. Ah, they say you can't hear it, but you can.
Conversely, stateroom 7131 is on Rotterdam Deck and nicely sandwiched between two other decks with staterooms above and below you, ergo no public areas causing noise.
I agree with other poster about 7131 being so much better because its nicer to sit on your balcony and watch the wake of the ship and a much more wider expanse view.
