We are leaving out of Vancouver on the 15th of Sept. going to Hawaii. we will visit all islands for a day. We have our own snorkel gear and don't want to sign up for an excursion, has anyone gone off on their own and found a easy beach to go to and snorkel that is not too far from the ship???

On Maui, if the ship anchors at Lahaina you can rent a small car and ask how to get to the beach at the Black Rock at the Sheraton everyone knows where it is, it is excellent snorkelling and only about 5 or 6 miles north of town. If you dock on the other side of the island, it's still only an hour each way.

Hi, looke forward to an amazing adventure; we've done this trip four times. In Kona there is a wonderful beach just off the pier you will see an old builing (hut) in the water there is a natural coral reef there and amazing snorkeling. My DH and I had a great time there in Jan.
Also in Hilo there is a beautiful spot wish I could remember where it was. Bon Voyage have a wonderful cruise
