Default Ship layout

We've cruised RCCI and like their layout, because it is easy to get around the ship. You can go from one end of the ship to the other with little or no problems. The Dining and Theatre areas are convenient.

Celebrity's ships are nice, but not as easy to explore. The layout takes some getting use to. Actually, we have yet to really get used to them.

This is our first Holland American Cruise.....How would you experience cruisers rate Hal's ships layout?

We will be on the Oosterdam March 4th for a Mexican Riviera cruise.
Any comments on food, cabins, service on the Oosterdam appreciated!!!

layout is no problem --- if i remember correctly you can walk from stem to stern on any deck without a problem ---- there is a deck layout in a hal brochure or on the hal web site and when you board you can get a map at the front desk

Thanks!!!

We've enjoyed the Mexican Riviera on RCCI and Celebrity...each offered something a little different...so we're excited to try Hal...if we liked them we'll give them a try on one of their longer cruises.

Thanks again for the information

All HAL ships are wonderfully laid out . All have an increasing rarity, a wide walk around promenade. All outside public decks are teak. You can walk clear through on almost all decks. Elevators and stairs are plentiful and convenient. And they are beautiful ships! Dark wood and rich colors. you can check your deck plan on the HAL website.

richstacy:

We have looked up the deck plans on Hal's site...but we really have come to appreciate our fellow cruisers personal input!

We've found on some sites that the cabins, etc. tend to look LARGER and somewhat nicer than the reality. It's the way they photograph or ??? Anyway, of course its NOT in every case, but we feel better when we get past cuisers experiences and opinions. I know it's all POV but it can help the shock level.

Thanks again for your response too!

If you haven't been on Holland before, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the size of the cabins and the overall quality of the ships. I believe they do offer a little more square footage than most. And they seem quite a little less crowded than e.g. Princess ships of similar size, though there are many things I like about Princess too. Have a wonderful cruise

Just completed 10 day on Veendam which should be in dry dock right now.The room size outside cabins 176sq. ft which puts it up there with any other ship. Was just looking at insideon MSC and they were only 140 ft.This is a big difference and on this ship we had an aft room which appeared to even being larger than the normal outside due to the configuration of the ship in the rear.Ther are only 4 rooms here on promnade deck and very quiet as noone uses this exit for walking deck.am not sure this is true on other Holland ships but would assume the same for other in this catagory. No they can not see into your room unless you put your nose against the glass. Also great location for dining room which is up 2 floors.
