Oosterdam or Westerdam

We have a choice of either of these ships for the Alaska cruise out of Seattle in June. Any big differences? Any reasons we should choose one over the other? Your input would be appreciated.

Both sister ships almost the same pick either one,Westerdam a little newer

The deckplans look the same to me, I'm going to be on the Westerdam in May. I made my choice based on the pictures of the ship on HAL's website. You might wanna check em out.

I can only speak about the WESTERDAM which we took for a European cruise in October,2004. It's a wonderful, understated, elegant ship with great food, entertainment and amenities.........whatever you do, you can't lose on an HAL ship. REMEMBER: HAL "owns" Alaska.....read how the territory was open to cruising and you'll see what I mean!

I just got off the Oosterdam and cant wait to go on my next HAL cruise. Im hooked on HAL.

The Oo was beautiful. I am sure either ship would suffice.

We were on the Westerdam in July on a Baltic cruise and liked the ship, although it is a little larger than we prefer. We favored the Zaandam and will be sailing the Veendam in April.
