Default Taxi from Dock to Airport?

Hi, Sailing next week and just realized that I didn't make arrangements for a Taxi to the airport when we get back to Tampa. Do you think this will be a problem? or are there Taxis hanging around?? What a twit I am! I see that you have to book up 15 days in advance to make transfer arrangements through Holland America. Any suggestions....... Thank you in advance (I hope)

No problem, we have done this at least twice. There are taxis right outside the customs hall. Just tell the porter you'd like to be taken to a taxi. It's about 20 - 25 minutes to the airport and will cost about $20 for the cab. With a $5 tip, it's about 1/2 of what HAL will charge two people to ride their bus to the airport.

I just have to second what Howard has told you. There are plenty of taxis. On a domestic cruise I almost always use a taxi over a cruise line transfer. I find it easier and less expensive.

Even on foreign cruises I will research the taxi/cruise line transfer alternative and many times I will opt for the taxi. On my upcoming Hong Kong to Osaka cruise the transfer from the Osaka pier to the Kyoto airport is $160 per person while a taxi is $80 for two people. I am going with the taxi. I think I can find one who can understand enough English to figure out: Kyoto Airport. 9500 Yen

Take care,
Mike

Another advantage of taxi is that you travel in you own time. You don't sit for an hour while the bus fills up.
