Default Westerdam / need help with cabin choice

I'm planning a July 2006 Alaskan cruise on the Westerdam and need assistance with choosing a cabin. I'm most likely going with category VA but am also considering category SS. The "SS" rooms are on the Navigation deck and I read that they can be noisy, especially in the morning/evening when the staff is moving deck chairs on the Lido deck. Any truth to this?
I definitely want a quiet cabin so I know I should stay away from the elevators. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

Last year we had an SS located midship on the Westerdam and had no noise problems, and found the cabin to be fantastic. We enjoyed the Westerdam alot.

We also had an SS on the Westerdam last year, but we were near the aft elevators. Absolutely no noise from above. The staff usually re-arranges the lounges around 6pm, and even though we were in our cabin around that time getting dressed for dinner, we didn't hear a thing.

SS suites are wonderful, especially the bathroom - double sinks, 2 medicine cabinets, separate shower stall. I am sure you will love an SS.

Default SS on Westerdam

Thanks for the replies.

I confirmed my reservation in Category SS.

I was on RCCL over 15 years ago and have been on Carnival twice during the past 10 years. I'm looking forward to my first cruise on HAL and my first visit to Alaska.
