Default Which luxury line for us?

DH is 30, I'm 22. We aren't partiers at all--- the wildest we'll ever get is a glass of wine over Scrabble.

We're cruising Carnival in July for my first cruise-- DH has taken a Windjammer Barefoot, and thinks I'll prefer the luxury-type lines.

We don't mind the older demographic at all, and would prefer a more laid back experience-- the only caveat is that I don't really care to dress up.

I'm bringing one formal dress for my Carnival cruise, and every other night it will be capris and a polo.

Does that mean that luxury lines won't work for me?

Well there are luxury lines and luxury lines. Sounds like for example Crystal is not for you. but I think you'd do well on Holland, Princess or Celebrity -- not nearly as stuffy. but not party boats full of drunken fools either.

Holland is wonderful for a relaxing cruise. If you don't want to dress up, you can skip the two formal nights in the main dining room and eat at the Lido. One of the things my husband really enjoyed on our last Holland cruise was when Vietnam veterans gathered in the coffee shop for an hour just to talk. There was a special ops guy there who was just fascinating! We saw the announcement of the meeting in the print-out that was delivered to your room each day. You can find quiet places to relax or hop up to the Crow's Nest for some drinks and music, if that suits you.

Default Luxury Line ?

Not many more are left.

Some think getting a Suite for the cruise is a luxury. And it is in many ways.

You do have many things included for the price you pay.

Holland American so far has the nicest ones for it now is part of the Carnival Cruise Line Family...

We going next on the Rotterdam Deck on the New Noordam (IV) leaving NYC on 03/25/2006 AD and this is a really nice line..

Did anyone else cruise on the Rotterdam before?

Holland American has nicer services friendlier staff and betetr accuments.. Real Flowers, Silver, Bone China, Chocolate, Linenens and the best beds afloat...etc....

Luxury I guess is also what you make of it.

One of my friends never cruised before let alone had a vacation..

He took his Mom and Step Father on a Cruise git a Suite and hardly ever came out of the rooms or the ship... he d=said he never dreamed anything couild be as nice as that was... he was hooked from that NJ NANO Second on....

Just got back from our first HAL cruise...you can't beat HAL for beauty and class WITHOUT being stuffy.

Try Holland American...you'll love it.
