On the Westerdan 1/28/07 to Southern Caribbean. Any others? Neve been on a full-length cruise before. Never been to the Caribbean before. Already booked the Green Cabana on Half Moon Cay (will be with my parents and want to be sure they are taken care of and have a place out of the sun to relax). Cabins are VE class on Verandah deck. Dinner is early lower. Any hints, suggestions, other stuff? Remember that the cruise returns to Ft. Lauderdale on Super Bowl Sunday.....don't delay if you're looking for hotels!
We are also booked for this cruise staying in an inside cat. I. We wanted to sail to Aruba and found this to be one maybe the only one that cruises from the states on a 7 nighter. Price was right so we are off. Our first cruise was on the Ryndam 10 years ago to Alaska although we have sailed Carnival and Royal Caribbean a few times in between. We looked at the new Freedom of the Seas with Royal Caribbean but a 7 nighter would of been several hundread dollars more for an inside visiting places we have already been there and done that.
I am sure this will be an excellent cruise and we are excited to see Hollands newer ship. 8)
Great! Glad to hear there are others coming along. I imagine there will be more as the time gets closer. We've reserved the "Green Cabana" on Half Moon Cay.....bringing my parents along and wanted to be sure they are comfortable and taken care of. I've cruised many times on short/one-night cruises but never on a 7 day. My partner has never cruised at all. And my parents have cruised once or twice. Interesting that we've traveled the world, but never crused and never been to the Caribbean. It'll be great. Hope you have your hotels pre and post cruise. Remember its Super Bowl Sunday in Miami on the day we return. Talk with you soon.
I will be on this cruise also. It is very unusual to find a 7 day cruise going to the Southern Caribbean. I have been to Aruba and don't want to spoil the party but, Hated it. It was super windy and cold. The wind was averaging around 40 mph and combined with the air temp, it was just plain cold. The beaches were OK. Anyway, I have been on the Westerdam also and loved it. Can't wait to get back on it. Love Half Moon Cay is fab, but that time of year be ready for some "refreshing" (COLD) water. The cabanas are really cool. Well worth the moolah. Never been to Curacao. I hear it is better than Aruba. I have booked a Verandah cabin, the same one I had before. Just love this ship. My fave of the Vista ships though is the Noordam, hands down. Hope they have made the same adjustments in the Westerdam that they have in the Noordam. Anyway, hope to see you on this cruise.
Hey, great info. Anyway for us to tell which large groups may be on the sailing? I've heard some horror stories about incredibly large groups and the way they sort of take over the ship and some areas like the bars and such. Anybody have any good ideas? Any HAL people out there willing to help us out with a little privy information? Thanks everyone. Glad to hear that the cabana is going to be perfect. Also, another question: Any dolphin encounter type of activities anyplace that we're going? Since you've been off of the ship in Aruba before, is it worth gettng it? I know that some friends of mine have remarked that they had way too many ports of call and would have preferred to just stay on the ship. Stay in touch everyone!
I have done the dolphin encounter and found it was way overpriced. All you really get to do is take a picture (they will gladly sell you), kiss and pet the dolphin. Not worth the money. I plan to get off the ship in Aruba to go to a casino. Won't get cold in there. . Maybe just walk around the town. It is quite colorful and quaint. Hope this helped. They do have the dolphin encounter on Half Moon Cay now too. Might want to do that one instead of Aruba. Have not heard of any large groups on this cruise. You are right, they take over the ship. Upsets me when they take over the Crow's Nest. I like to go there and take over a recliner for a while. Hope this helped. If you have any other questions, maybe I can answer them, who knows.
We'll also be on this sailing. We've booked it with another couple who are our neighbors and we cruise with every year. I love this itinerary; I've never seen a 7 day from Florida that goes to the Southern Caribbean. We've booked the turquoise cabana. We'll be going down a week before the cruise and spending time in Marco Island and then head over to Ft. Lauderdale probably the night before the cruise. Can't wait to meet everyone!

I don't know what time of year you were in Aruba, but the many times I have been there it was so HOT, that most times I didn't even get off the ship...........just too hot to walk into town or go a beach. What do you call cold?
Dee Dee, I was in Aruba for a week in February. Just hated it. Getting back to the Westerdam and Half Moon Cay, we have gotten the Blue cabana. Looks like we will all be neighbors on Half Moon Cay. See ya there. Oh by the way, Marco Island is just gorgeous. You will love it. I live just up the road in Fort Myers. See ya in January.
