Default Dominica

The Volendam used to stop in Dominica on their 10 day trip. What ship does that port now. The day we were there they had a small sunami - bridges were destroyed etc. Would love to get back there again.

I know that the Noordam goes there, because it's on our itinerary for November 07.

I can't remember the name of the tour company we used, I want to say it was Ken. Anyway you may want to check ports a call here or on the other board for ideas. Our tour was about 3 years ago and one of the best we have taken. Be careful of one thing, there is so much to see that the excursions can get long; make sure you plan something for about 5 hours so you have no problems with getting back to the ship. We barely made it. good luck and enjoy the island, we loved it. NMNita

Puppylips, I am looking at booking the river tubing on my Noordam cruise in November. It looks like a lot of fun. Anything you would care to share about your experience would be much appreciated!

Veendam is doing a 14 day itinerary on March 18, November 4 and November 25, 2007 that includes a stop at Dominica.

I did this tour twice, once in February last year and again in March. Once with my husband who loves the water, and then again with my brother and sister and spouses. All abilities in swimming and all enjoyed it very much. It lasts about an hour, and you ride in tubes with plywood bottoms. There is a brief stop for a snack and then a return to the river. The water was higher in February and the ride a little wilder, but still fun. It takes maybe 35 minutes to get to the river and the ride is fun through some very pretty countryside. Hope this helps. Ask if you have more questions. BTW, everyone must wear a life jacket, but there are plenty of people working and helping should anyone need assistance.

We may be booking that cruise, Bonnie! The only thing holding me back is the late arrival time in Tortola.

We were there on the last Noordam cruise and the beach is lovely (Cane Garden Bay). 3 PM to 9 PM is an odd port time, IMO.

But, we'd love to see Dominica and Barbados!

Thanks very much for the response puppylips! I'm really looking forward to the river tubing excursion.

Innlady1, I do hope you decide to book the Noordam for the November 10 cruise. It would be nice to meet you!
