Default Does it matter

Does it matter when planning a cruise who the captain is or the cruise director is. To me honestly it doesn't make a difference. To some people
it does.

Are you kidding I have only had 2 cruise directors that I could even say made any difference: one was so awesome that he made a really great cruise into one I will remember for ever. The other was a cruise we took last spring, I can't say she really hurt our cruise, but she certainly didn't add to our enjoyment. Oh yes, on our HAL cruise last November the cruise director was really bad. No, none of these people will make or break our cruises. NMNita

I couldnt care less. As long as the captain doesnt wreck the ship and the cruise director leaves me alone, I'm good to go.

The most important thing is that the dates of the cruise fit into my schedule.

But after having Peter Bos as captain of Statendam last year, I wish I could have him every time. He made such an effort to let us know whenever wildlife was spotted, and on the Alaska inside passage, chose a route that kept land closeby on both sides of us, even though it was harder to navigate. Much more scenic and we got to see more wildlife too. Really enhanced the cruise in my opinion.

I am obivious to the crew when planning a cruise. I could not tell you who the captain is, while onboard or afterwards. In 18 cruises, only 2 CDs stand out. One was wonderful and the other beyond obnoxious. I take responsibility for my own enjoyment and have not had a bad cruise yet.

Hammybee - I think you meant to say "ObLivious" to the crew.

I feel the same way - couldn't care less who was on the ship - just being on the ship is all that matters to me. Mind you, it is nice when we see familiar faces and they recognize us from other cruises.

I could care less.

This seems to be an important thing to some cruisers, but I just don't get it.
