Default Schedule of Formal versus Casual Dining Nights

My husband and I are getting very excited about our upcoming first-ever cruise on the Oosterdam on February 9th. Nowhere in any literature can I find information on which nights are the two formal nights. Are they port nights? Can anyone fill me in please. Being the compulsive person that I am, I like to plan our activities accordingly. Boy, do I need this cruise and relaxation!!!

You didn't say the order of your itinerary but it is almost always the case your first formal night will be your second night aboard.

Your second formal night (assuming you are on a 7 day cruise), will probably be the second from last night aboard, especially if that is a sea day.

Looking at your itinerary, for the Oosterdam for 2/9, formal nights will probably be on the 10th and 14th, both of which are sea days.

We had quite a surprise on the Zuiderdam at Xmas - we had 3 formal - Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (Tuesday) and Thursday. It was just the way the itinerary worked out, I guess.

I laughed when you said being a compulsive person you like to plan your activities accordingly and then you said you needed this cruise to relax. Why not get on the ship, relax and then see what activities are available. You'll never relax if you are running all over the place.

Have a great time and just enjoy yourself.

Our formal nights were the first two sea days...happened to be xmas eve
and xmas night. I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.
Peace through superior firepower.
