Has anyone taken the shore exchursions to Berlin offered by HAL? Specifically I am interested to know more about the 2.3 to 3.0 hour train journey from Warnemunde. The train journey sounds a little long.... We've done 10 hour shore exchusions in europe in the past, but they were by bus and involved many stops along the way. Are the trains comfortable?
We did that, not on HAL but on the old crown Odyssey say back in 91. It was great fun. At the time the trains were still East German to the core, but they were comfortable and smooth, fast and on time. It was a very interesting trip! We enjoyed it very much. I'm sure the trains are better now.
BTW, I still have a picture of a Russian freighter crew staring up at the American cruise ship as we glided into Warnemunde at dawn. A great photo!
Do it!

We did the train trip on our NCL Dream Baltic cruise in 2000 and the trains were very comfortable. So different from our Amtrak. Our kids felt like they were in an old movie with the train compartments. I think it was about a 3 hour ride.
