Default First time on an 18 day cruise - Statendam April 23

I've never been on a cruise that lasted longer than 7 days. Any advice , tips, suggestions or ideas on how to prepare for my upcoming cruise from Osaka to Vancover?

What ship are you sailing? How many sea days and how many port days?

Two things...balcony....books. We have been on 28+ day cruises and have learned that the extended at sea days can present a challenge. The ship will do it's best to offer diversions but we have never enjoyed more those simple days on the balcony watching the world go by, reading an occasional book both fiction and non fiction. While the library usually has a good selection they do go fast and are hoarded. So we have always included in our packing a good book or two to catch up on current events and best sellers. Our upcoming cruise is 20 days and we are prepared.

Wow, how wonderful for you !! Some good books, of course, and maybe
if you like playing cards - you could find some pleasant card "mates". Do
you have any "portable" hobbies like needlework, some thing to work on
that doesn't take up a lot of space in luggage or needed work area. There
are some nice travel games you can pick up at "Toys R Us" - bring along
some DVD's you've been meaning to watch, How about starting a Journal
of your travels and experiences. If you are taking a video camera - you
could start making a recording of your trip from start, daily routine, things
you are doing on the ship and of course, on shore. Almost like a "Video
Journal." Catch up on your exercise routine - I think you'll want to do
plenty of walking to get rid of the extra calories from the dining room. And
of course, enjoying all the creature comforts of taking a great trip like this.
Never been gone more than 14 days on a cruise - so am I jealous - YES!!

Default I'll see you on the ship

My significant other and I are on this cruise. We'll be in Osaka a few days (3 nights) befoe we board and a few days in Vancouver after the cruise.

I'll be bringing some books (The Other Boylean Girl, Snowflower and the Secret Fan etc.)-- maybe we can trade some books.

I'm a trivia nerd, so I will be at the daily trivia--probably just once a day-- we are never out of dinner early enough for evening trivia.
