temperature on the ship

I am leaving for Alaska tomorrow (woohoo). We are expecting temperatures in the ports to be in the mid fifties. What will the temperature be like on the boat. Should I plan to bring shorts to wear or will I need jeans and a sweatshirt.
Thanks

I have been on two Alaska cruises. One in May and one in July It was actually cooler in July then May for me. You will definitely need a sweatshirt or something warm for the Glacier viewing. Juneau was nice and sunny and warm but the other ports could be cooler. The ship itself is usually comfortable but if you get cool with airconditioning you may want to bring jeans and a sweater or something a little warmer than shorts for when you are walking around the ship. Have a great time.

I never felt the need for a sweater when we cruised the Ryndam to Alaska.
If I remember right, the only time I put on long pants was going ashore in Sitka and at dinner on the ship.
In fact, the pool has a retractable roof in case it gets chilly.

Of course, I live in the NW and am uncomfortable when the temperature hits 78!

I would take a pair of shorts just in case.

In May it was very cold and I never wore my shorts. However when we did Alaska the end of August one year, I wore my shorts a couple of times in the afternoon.

You'll definitely need jeans and a sweater or sweatshirt, especially in the mornings
