I have heard that this ship now offers wireless access for those who bring their lap tops, but I have not heard what if any is the charge for the access code to log on with? Does any one know what the HAL policy is for wireless access?
Thanks, at least it's not in Euros my last cruise the Internet was so slow it was about 5 euros before you were even connected. I was thinking it was like a daily charge or something, how can they tell how long you are connected when it's your own computer and there isn't that little clock monitoring your time?
Because you have to log in and out each time you use it. It's no different than using one of their computers.
Now, if you are just using Word and not logging in, then there's no charge. A lot of people will write their report or e-mail or whatever in Word and then log in and send it through their e-mail.
Let me tell you, the internet is often very slow depending where the ship is, so don't expect it to be as fast as you have at home if you are on high speed. It's more like, low, low speed.
Everything you pay for on the ship is in US$'s. The charge for using the internet will go on your bill.
There are hot spots on the ship, one of course being where the Terminals are, and there is one on the Lido pool area and other spots. I think (not for sure) you open you browser and connect to a particular IP address they give you that takes you into the same server the terminals are using. The charge is the same as it is using their terminals, but you have the freedom of movement. And yeah, it will, in many cases, remind you of the good old dialup days.
