Default Grand Turk Cruise Center

We are regulars on HAL, and stopped at the Grand Turk Cruise Center on our last cruise. It was our first time there, and I also hope our last.

I would be interested in what other HAL cruisers think of the GTCC. To us, it is nothing but a trap. Maybe the Carnival crowd would go for it.

On the other hand, there is Half Moon Cay, really nice.

No, there isn't much there there at GTCC, but they have some fun things to do like horseback riding and kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing. Now car rental, too.

Is the beach at least minimally decent?
A place to have a pleasant lunch or is it fast food junk?

I really like it there. Nice beach. Not much shopping for shoppers but I don't care about that. I find it very relaxing to grab a beach lounge and go swimming. Never seems crowded. My kind of place. Grab a beer and go veg.

Is there a place for a nice lunch or is it burgers and fries or such?

We'd enjoy a pleasant lunch ashore if there is something other than junk food. Should we plan to return to the ship?

We went back to the ship. I guess you can eat at Margaritaville but I don't like hamburgers and stuff like that. Plus, we had to be back on board by 1 or 2, so we waited to eat lunch.

We would agree. The best thing that ever happened to us there was to run into old cruise friends whom were berthed next to us on another HAL ship!

I like the beach. the ship is right in front of the beach.
unfortunely there is not much to visit. Maybe in a few years
there will be more to see and do.

Default I like it, it's a day at the beach, compared to Costa Maya

Hey, at least you can swim/snorkle from the beach there. The sand is nice and there's plenty to see. That's good enough for me. Now Costa Maya, now there's a captive audience strip mall full of overpriced c*&p, in my opinion. And if you even THINK about dipping your big toe in the agua there, the security dudes will freak out and point firearms in your general direction. Been there-done that.

We were at Grand Turk in March.... spent the morning at the pool. Big, clean, lots of lounges. Could just as well have stayed at the pool on the ship. The beach had a lot of seaweed but it had been very rough at sea so we think it probably had just washed up the last day or so and they didn't have enough time to get it all cleaned before we arrived.

We went back to the ship for lunch. The price of drinks was beyond ridiculous and we don't pinch a penny very tight on vacation but that was crazy.

Last time at Costa Maya was before the hurricane did so much damage. They also had a huge pool for guests use. No beach directly where the ship docked but others have said a short walk away, there's a beach they walk to.

I wonder what you are referring to saying people can't put their foot in the water?

Have things changed since they rebuilt post hurricane?
