We are looking at a cruise-tour on Ryndam 14 days Vancouver to Fairbanks. It seems to be a special tour as it has days before the cruise in Vancouver and there are a lot included tours on the cruise and the land portion including several things to do in Fairbanks.
Even if you haven't been on this particular kind of tour would cruisers who are familiar with Rhinedam and the Alaska cruise comment on it?
We have been on Carnival previously and mainly in the Caribbean. We have done some traveling in Alaska but it was on our own.
We are interested in the ship, the cruise portion and the land portion. We are assuming that Holland has its own train cars and its own hotel at Denali. Do you feel really special?
Our other possiblility is a Princess cruise-tour but it is a regular trip where we would make our own arrangements for any off ship tours.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Also in looking at flight arrangements from the Florida panhandle the flights look daunting. Has anyone done these flights? How do you handle the one from Fairbanks? One friend is considering roundtrip to Vancouver which means a one way from Fairbanks back to Seattle and then back to Vancouver. And then you still have the horrid trip back to Florida with two more plane changes. I can see no way around it no matter what cruiseline we choose. The timing of flights also looks like we might have to spend a night in Vancouver before we can get a flight back to FL.
Thanks for any info. We have traveled a lot but flying is getting more and more tedious.
