Open dining

What is the Open dining on the Westerdam? We just scheduled a Alaskan Cruise on August 16th. We will take grandchildren ages 10 & 12. Is open dining the best for us and why?

My opinion< yes, but everyone has his/her own views about this..I think ,expecially with kids open dining works well. The best part, you can choose to eat early and retire early if you have a long day of sight seeming the following day, or, if you have been on tour most of the day, get back to the cabin late and want to relax, shower and have a drink before dinner you have that option.. another thing, which some people never think of, you can eat, do your thing after dinner and return to the dining room later for dessert. This is something kids often enjoy..

Just back from the Eurodam with kids and open dining worked great for us. You can call daily to make reservations if you don't want to wait.

The only time we bothered with reservations was if a friend and I wanted to dine by ourselves that evening and wanted a table for two. Otherwise, I never bothered with reservations and never waited at all. Just walked in and was shown to a large table that was being filled up.
