HAL Alaska Meal Plans

Booked on May 25 Volendam - Cruise/Tour #3:
Did not get meal plan package - did I do right thing or not?
Thought we would go local instead of Westmark Hotel food.
Help - anyone ever go w/o meal plan?

It seems to me that you can't really go wrong unless the hotel meals are cheap (I doubt it). You can find other places to eat of you want in the towns, and if there are no other places you can still eat at the hotel, just not on the plan.

Meals could be cheaper if you took the meal plan.
Costs in Alaska are very expensive . When I was in Seward and Skagway
in 2008 ,I noticed the prices were higher then expected .
Considering that everything has to hauled from the south
costs can get high . I personally would take a meal plan on the tour. You the have paid for almost everything up front with no unexpected charges.
