Inside cabin vs oceanview cabin on cruise with many at sea days
We are looking at the 42-nite cruise on HAL Volendam from Seattle to Sydney. There are quite a number of "at sea" days, with nothing to see out a window except ocean. On port days, disembark in early-mid morning, and then leave port late. Which is better?
On the Volendam, are there lots of decks with views, comfortable seating, etc, to while away the at sea days?
For a 42 night cruise, I'd pick an outside cabin. I also like looking out the window to see sunshine and what the seas and weather are like. I think I'd go bananas being in an inside room for 42 days.
We have only had an inside once and that was because we booked late. It was only a 7 day cruise and I didn't mind it, but DH said "never again". That was on the old Noordam and we had people on three sides - walls were very thin in those days.
Holland America oceanview cabins are nice & spacious, so I would do that. You will want to use your cabin for something besides slepping and dressing on a 42-day cruise (watching TV & movies) so having a window with daylight will make it more "real" and not like an artificial environment.
